Our training program is an opportunity for documentary filmmakers from Gilgit-Baltistan telling stories from Gilgit-Baltistan.  If you are interested in learning more about story development, narrative documentary and creative approaches to contemporary documentary filmmaking, this 7-month documentary training intensive is the program for you.

The 7-month program includes story and idea development, mentorship and feedback throughout production, community and networking, one-on-one mentorship, and intensive edit workshops till your final cut! There will be two in person intensive modules held in Gilgit City. The first session (May/June) will focus on developing your ideas, finding story arcs, characters, and narrative development as well as ideas or form, cinematography and style. Participants will be expected to film during this 6-week period to give them an opportunity to get feedback on their footage from mentors and peers and problem solve. The second in-person module (September) will focus on film edits with group session and mentor sessions which will focus on further narrative development and edit styles. At the end of the program, participants will be expected to present finished films to the group. All films created within this program remain the intellectual property of the filmmakers themselves. DAP will help find opportunities for screenings and audiences for filmmakers where possible.

During this program, filmmakers will be mentored by Oscar and Emmy-winning filmmakers and Pakistan’s top creative professionals as well as international filmmakers who will help take your short documentary project from idea to screen.
